New Directional Signs Show the Way for Bikers

This is a HUGE plus for bicyclists in the city. Now you'll always know your path to Temple! Read on...

New directional signs are popping up in Philadelphia thanks to the Get Healthy Philly initiative funding. The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is working with the Health Department and the Streets Department to finish up the order for a total of 400 directional signs city-wide to promote active transportation and let people know just how close parks and other recreation assets are to their neighborhoods.

The signs point to local recreation centers and playgrounds as well as larger trail and park facilities and can also be used for wayfinding by runners and walkers.

In addition to the wayfinding signs, the City will release a city-wide Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan in Spring 2012 and is working towards an update of a city-wide bicycle map.
